The Healing Journey

Courses to develop calmness, confidence and wholeness.

Support Volunteers

The Centre needs volunteers to supplement the work done by the two main Support Officers. This would take the form mainly of telephone answering, and meeting and greeting clients who visit the Centre.

This is a very important area of our work as we seek to make people feel welcome and comfortable when they make any telephone contact with or visit the Centre.

In addition, you might be asked to do administrative tasks. Training, support and supervision will be given, but volunteers are expected to have warm, friendly manner, to be flexible about the tasks they are allotted and to develop awareness and sensitivity around client and staff needs.

A volunteer who offers support on a weekly basis had this to say about her work at the Centre:

"I find volunteering at the Centre so rewarding in many ways. I find that I can use my counselling skills not only with the phone support but also on a face to face basis too.

I gain confidence from meeting new people from all walks of life & all ages. I feel like I’m making a real difference not only for the Centre users but with the staff too; using my initiative to see the little things that need to be done such as making sure the cups are clean & there's enough leaflets out etc.

There's never nothing to do!!"
